The Great British Teddy Bear Company is a UK company which employs 600 people in its very own factory in China in addition to it's UK workforce of just under 700 based in Ipswich and Clacton.
The aim was to make a high quality teddy that could be washed. The bears themselves are made in their China factory together with the clothing, then sent to Clacton on Sea where each bear is lovingly dressed by hand. Due to the expertise required to work on such detailed designs, the Chinese seamstresses have been recruited from the best factories in China and are paid a premium to work for The Great British Teddy Bear Company. The average age of the machinists is 32, they are some of the most experienced professionals in the country.
The results are simply suberb designs and quality at an amazingly affordable price. Stockists include Harrod's, Hamleys and they also feature on QVC.
