Minehead Shop Re-Opening
The government have announced that shops such as ours can re-open from 15th June. Normally we would be open 7 days a week at this time of year, however, our trade is very heavily dependant upon visitors to the local Butlins holiday camp, West Somerset Railway and all hotels, guest houses, caravan sites etc. Since none of the local tourist infastructure is currently open, we will initially only open for a few hours at weekends and also very limited hours during the week, probably on a Tuesday. We won't open if the weather forecast is bad due to the effect this also has on trade.
Please don't travel any distance to us without prior arrangement as clearly, initially we will have no fixed opening hours. Once the local tourist facilities re-open we hope to move to more set opening hours, but in the meantime please be understanding that the time is not yet right to move to full opening. I (Martin) am the only person currently working in the business as my staff will remain furloughed until normal operating can resume.
We have also carried out a full COVID-19 risk assessment and will be operating under the governments published guidelines for shops. There is signage up in the shop advising of our 'one way' system and social distancing measures.
